When I arrived at the resort, my goal was to lose 35 lbs in 8 weeks. Having been here for 4 Ivyy Reyes Testimonialweeks I’ve already lost 26 lbs! When I arrived I struggled to walk up the stairs but within a couple weeks I was running 6.4 miles per hour in Nicole’s Circuit class – this was an incredibly emotional experience for myself and others in the class at the time! This is a place where you can reach your goals – when there are supportive people helping you to keep going, people looking out for me and caring about my success, I am more driven to really commit to a healthy new lifestyle. I wish I could stay for 6 months and lose 100 lbs!

The hikes are so great – they really show you what’s out there. Sometimes we just don’t live life to the fullest, but when we’re encouraged to do the hikes we realize just how much we can accomplish and it feels like I’ve been given a new chance to live a better, happier and healthier life. Every day I learn something new about myself, and I feel better and better about myself; people here are smiling, happy and so supportive – we’re all just so happy to be making these real changes in our lives. I’ve made such great friends – it’s like going back to school, but without the drama. I’m pretty in love with this place.

Recently, after passing the fifty year old marker, I decided to deal with my fitness and general health.  PeterWatching Michael Phelps prepare for and then win his eight reminded me of my own 30 years of competitive swimming, biking, mountaineering, sports and general outdoor activity and healthiness up through my early forties.  In addition, I longed to re-experience my beloved canyon and slick-rock hiking experiences.  The past ten years resulted in a general decline of my fitness, increase in weight, and cumulative risk and indicators for cardiovascular disease.
These thoughts and factors coupled with the fact that my three kids were moving into adulthood, drove me to find a fitness spa and take a crack at re-setting mind, body and spirit. Google and chance brought me to Fitness Ridge and fate and circumstance placed me in the two-week “Battle of the Bulge”.  I was less interested in the battle, but determined to find out if “re-setting” is possible at my age and poor level of fitness and health.

At Fitness Ridge, with its’ dedicated, energetic and caring staff, I can definitively state that ‘re-setting’ mind, body and spirit is not only possible – but likely.   It happened for me and for many others who participated in the program with me.  Your pragmatic yet disciplined approach to meals, physical health, and general fitness education provided me with tools, thought process, and an inner belief to manage my weight, fitness and general health.  The morning hikes were the highlight for me.  Beautiful sunrises, red-white-and-blue landscapes, and the early morning smells and sounds of peaceful canyon rambling.  It doesn’t get any better than Southern Utah! I cannot thank you enough for the care, attention and energy all of you brought to my stay at Fitness Ridge.
Yes, I lost 28 lbs and won the competition, but much more importantly I re-discovered the ability to attend to my fitness and health.  I and my family thank you – and I now look forward to the next thirty years of health, fitness, and activities with my kids and eventually, grandkids.

Oh - and by the way - I’ll be back for another “Battle of the Bulge” – let the Fitness begin!

Inspired by The Biggest Loser, I recently spent six weeks at Fitness Ridge.  I showed up with Jimsubstantial weight to lose and left still with substantial weight to lose. I was, however, able to lose over 60 pounds in my six weeks, push my body to do things I thought impossible, meet great supportive people, and eat delicious, healthy, filling food.  My original fears of enrolling in a program like this were quelled right away by an amazing, friendly staff that pushed me to believe in myself.  I could barely walk a mile when I started and six weeks later was able to do the entire 4.5 mountain hike to the stop sign.   It was a life changing experience for me.

I cannot say enough about my fellow attendees, who were at all imaginable fitness levels, and who were all at the Ridge for their own personal and proper reasons.  I made friends that will last me a lifetime and I have a new support group to help me through the tough times.  No matter what your fitness goals, whether you have no weight, some weight, or a lot of weight to lose, Fitness Ridge will be the answer for you.

Picture this: 58-year-old grandma, 40 lbs. overweight, enjoying all kinds of food and lots of it, out-of-shape and tired, in need of exercise, direction, motivation, discipline and knowledge.  One week at Fitness Ridge gave me all of that and more.  Three months later and I'm still eating well, still losing little by little (26.5 lbs. to date), exercising 5x weekly and I am, in some ways, a changed person.  I learned so much about myself - what motivates me, how to push myself harder, what types and amounts of food help me lose weight yet still feel satisfied.  I feel energetic, motivated to reach and maintain my goal weight and grateful for an improved way of life.  I'm even looking forward to accompanying my grandkids to the pool and beach this summer - and actually joining them in the water instead of hanging out, fully dressed on the sidelines!  Fitness Ridge was a great experience for me, one I can recommend without reservation.

My wife gave me the 'gift' of a lifetime for Christmas 2006. It was a week at Fitness Ridge beginning Christmas Day.  I weighed in that day at 301 lbs.  A week later I weighed 288 lbs. With that 'jumpstart' I went on with I learned there, portion control, nutrition, fitness, etc.  By March of '07' I was down to 248 lbs.  Its September 2007 and I'm still at 248.  Time for a jumpstart!!  Thanks Fitness Ridge.  See you soon.

I can honestly say that the program at Fitness Ridge helped save my life.
I weighed close to 400 pounds when I took part of the program offered for six months.
The time and effort was more than worth it. I lost a total of 126 pounds. I still struggle today with my weight, but the classes and the information I received helped me for the better.
I have never made a better change for my life. I feel better, I look even better and that helps me develop people skills. (talking to the ladies).

I'm finally writing to let you all know what an incredibly positive impact my one week visit to FITNESS RIDGE has made on my life. I've always been an avid gym rat and never had any problem getting motivated to lift weights. Though as I'm aging, I realize that I can't stay in shape by picking up cars & buildings forever. I took the trek to Fitness Ridge specifically to develop better cardio habits. Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!  The other thing that REALLY helped me were the nightly dietary lectures. I found these alone to be worth the cost of the trip. I've really refined my eating and social drinking habits since and have a much better sense for accounting my calorie consumption.  I sincerely want to thank Cam, Michelle and the entire crew for inspiring me to better myself. I hope to be back to Fitness Ridge with my girlfriend in October.
